I found in modern engines the recommended dose of either MMO or TC-W3 is a bit much and as too heavy a dose milage drops . So I started playing around with ratios in my Kia / Hyundai 4 & 6 cylinder engines and found a recipe of : MMO @ 960 : 1 and TC-W3 @ 1920 : 1 ratios mixed together . At these levels I did NOT lose any MPG so it tells me that the dose was not too much (your milage may vary and it is possible you can mix stronger for your engine application) . Here is a web site where you can plug in the above ratios based on your gas tank size : http://www.csgnetwork.com/oilfuelcalc.html I'd be curious to see what others have to say about their results are using the above as a base starting point ? Goal was to lube & clean entire fuel system including useage as a UCL . * For reference : MMO recommended dose is 320 : 1 and the LC1 forum recommends TC-W3 at a ratio of 640 : 1 to gas .

No , has always worked free for me - must have Java loaded on your PC .

I'm still trying to figure that out - recommended doses really did a number on my gas mileage , so I dropped it back to where gas mileage jumped back up again . I may incrementally begin to add slightly - sweet spot for my modern engines looks like it will rest between a 1/2 and a 1/3rd of recommended dose .

Yep.....same here....I use a generic dosing though.....typically anywhere from 2.5 - 3 oz....no I'm not gonna grab the Bill Nye gear, graduated cyclinders, beaskers, and safety goggles out to the pumps :P So I keep the MMO in a 2.5 oz. bottle of 2 Cycle Oil that came with one of my trimmers as a "sample"

That rate works great for my typical 9-11 gallon "fill".....I realize the bottle states 2.5 oz....BUT, I fill the bottle to the tip top.....so it's likely more like 2.75 oz :P But yea......it only takes a little fine layer of lube to keep the innerds lubed.

I have never tried low dosage of MMO. I was not happy with the recommended 4oz/10gal dose. I should have tried lower dosage before giving up on MMO in gas.

Are there many of you with similar experience?

I don't keep extreme records of gas mileage.
Too many things can happen, including gas pumps being out of wack, to show a little increase or decrease here or there.

However, for a few years every couple of tanks I have been placing 2 fl.oz. of MMO and 2 fl.oz. of TCW3 into a old bottle that is marked in oz and putting that into a full tank of gas.

I don't know how much it has been doing. But I have 180,000 miles on my Taurus, 108,000 on my F-150 and 75,000 miles on my Xterra and the fuel systems seem to be working fine.
I worry about cheap gas, you can never be sure of how trustworthy their marketing is.

I figure that a little bit of the additives that I add will help dissolve crud and keep things a little bit cleaner over the long run. If it helps as an upper cylinder lube, all the better.

At least until my TC-W3 gal. jug is used up, I feel it is a better UCL / Fuel Sustem lube while MMO is the better cleaner . If I could learn more as to MMO lube ability I would consider just to use it alone .

All of my vehicles have 20 gallon tanks. I run a 50:50 mix of MMO/TCW3. I mix them in an old quart of Stabil bottle. I usually run 6 or 7 oz with an empty tank.

As you note, 2 stroke oil is a better lube. But no doubt MMO is a good lube, though.

Because the actual recommended ratio of MMO to gas is lower (320:1) than TC-W3 (640:1) - what ever ratio I end up with will be close to 2/3rds MMO to 1/3rd TC-W3 . I will also mention that MMO is more tolerant of over dose in an engine than TC-W3 (not very tolerant of over dose at all) .

Very true....lol. I overdid the TCW-3 once, and yep.....I felt it the minute I left the gas station parking lot.....I pretty much just babied the car that week, until half a tank, then topped off to "thin it out" - and didn't add anything that next fill.

I don't know.....the couple times I used TCW-3....though it is "ashless" it just seemed a lot "thicker" than say, MMO.....which is likely WHY it's only advised to use 1 oz. to 5 gallons of TCW-3....whereas, MMO is typically 4 oz. to 10 gallons.

Havent had a "fuel system cleaner" related CEL in a long time though

hehe. Llast I had was with my 08 Kia.....driving home from work, I stopped at the gas station and dropped in a bottle of Seafoam.....well, on the way home I got the CEL.......BUT, the next morning heading to work, the "italian tuneup" as I merged onto the highway, "cleared the code" :P Cause it flickered, then disappeared....

Or my bulb just died (but unlikely on a 2 year old car hehe).
