Has anyone tried MMO in newer transmissions? Especially one's that use Mercon V or Dexron VI? Any bad results? Directions say can use up to 16oz.

Thanks

When you say newer, what is the year, make, and model? I've never tried it in a newer transmission. I think in an older unit that needs cleaning it would be great.

I'm funny about adding anything to a transmission, with the exception of Lubegard products. Lubegard seems to have a great product and reputation for transmission additives.

Has anyone ever had GOOD results putting MMO in ANY transmission?!?

Why on earth would you even consider putting it in an automatic?

They say it can be used in an AT. As I mentioned I've never used it, and unless I had some kind of problem I was trying to resolve that a fluid change and pan drop couldn't resolve I would stick to ATF. If I felt the need for an additive a Lubegard product is what I'd use. JMO

Not no...but HE** NO!! The newer stuff has more and better than MMO ever dreamt of. MMO was developed back in the day of SB and SC motor oils. They left so much gunk in an engine or carburetor that MMO was a really useful product. Since the explosion of molecular organic chemistry from the 1980's onward, lubes are so much better that IMO there is no need for MMO anymore. For gunked engines, seafoam or B-12 are very good blends of solvents and dispersants more suited to modern materials than MMO.

The best and safest AT flush is a properly rated ATF. If you have a neglected unit let it see a couple of 5k or 10k drain intervals.

Great to help with stuck solenoids, governors...... which should not be an issue in any newer transmission.

Thanks.
I really like MMO. It has done a great job on some things that I was unable to "fix" with anything else. I am a little hesitate to use it in Trans. because ATF is very specific in reguards to fiction modifers in newer transmissions.

They have a website. It would be against board rules to post a link to it here, but if you Google it or go to Turtle Wax home page I'm sure you can find it. Rich Kelly is the tech person there, if you post your questions on their board he'll probably answer it. Or you can search there for info.

I'm probably one of the biggest fans of MMO on this board. But I'm hesitant about using it in a transmission, unless there is a problem that would require rebuilding the unit. At that point I'd have nothing to lose.

It has never disappointed me when used in the oil or gas, and I want to keep that track record perfect. It could be the greatest thing for an AT, but I'm not going to be the guy who figures that out! :-)

Good luck, and I'd be interested in your findings!!!!!!!!!!

This is what MMO web site says.

"Our recommendation for adding Marvel Myster Oil to the automatic transmission is not to exceed 16 ounces. This amount will clean up any sludge and varnish without affecting the friction characteristics of the plates."

If there was a problem with MMO in a transmission you'd have heard about it. At this point I don't feel the need for it in my transmissions, but in the gas and engine oil is another story. Give it a shot, and report back. I don't really think I personally know anyone who has used it in a transmission. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Thanks. I am going to try in in my Ranger that has 115k on it. I tried Lubeguard but full thottle shifts are still very very rough.
