MMO and Synthetic Oil

Getting a reliable second opinion is key.

You may be trying to "correct" a problem that doesn't exist, except in the dealer's planting a seed of doubt in your mind.

Some Camry engines you can't see the top of the cylinder head since there is a baffle just under the filler cap.

If the dealer hasn't scoped it or pulled the valve cover, he's trying to get your money. I'm not saying he is, but it's amazing how many engines are "sludged" and need the dealer's super special (and high cost) additive treatment so they don't explode, seize, etc.

An honest shop is your best bet.

Synthetic is fine to use, but be more certain of the "diagnosis" before heading in a certain direction.

^^^excellent advice, never believe just one. Need a second opinion. Pull a valve cover and give us a pic!

MMO is a decent cleaner if you want to try it. IMO almost any engine with high miles needs a dose of Kreen. It's worth the trouble to get some.

I don't want to waste my Synthetic oil.

I originally wanted to buy Kreen but I cant get it shipped to CA

I use MMO continuously simply because it is what I choose to do. My car specs a 5w30, but there is no 5w30 that I know of for the price that has as good of an additive package of Rotella T6 5W-40 that I can buy at Walmart. So I add about 15-20% MMO to that, and I end up with a 30 weight HDEO that will also have very good cold weather performance, while still being good for summer, and still has a better add pack than Pennzoil Platinum.

I've run MMO for the past 40,000+ miles with zero problems. used oil analysis with it in the oil show as low of wear numbers as without MMO. It's one of the few additives that has no hyped up claims whatsoever, and it's been around for over 80 years.

If you specifically want to clean up an engine, Kreen would be my 1st choice however because it is more powerful of a cleaner.
