At 23-6 I think the Chicago Cubs are the real deal. I have been a MLB fan since my Little League days where I was a 2X All-Star. I have never seen a team that can score 6+ runs so easily. I'm curious as to who you guys like. The usual Cub jokes can be excluded.

As a Twins fan who has very little to cheer for already, I am keeping a watchful eye on the Cubbies. At this point, it's hard not to think they won't make it all the way. The key will be how they feel physically and emotionally on game number 163.

If my Blue Jays aren't in the World Series this year (and so far they're not proving they have any real chance) then I'm rooting for the Cubs to take it all.
The irony in my family is that our departed South Chicagoite (is that even right?) isn't around to see this.

They already have had one catastrophic injury on a key player and bounced back , I think it all revolves around the players health and how Joe rotates players in and out for rest

What a difference between Cubs manager Joe Maddon and Tigers manager Brad Ausmus of the Tigers. Like night and day.
Yes, manager-choices make a-lot bigger difference than what people think. Some like Joe are smart. Some like Brad walk around with a deer-in-the-headlight look the entire game. The ones lacking in smarts also lack in picking a good coaching staff. The Tigers have one of the worst coaching staffs in MLB. Tigers team lacks focus - fundamentals and discipline.

I'm a rays fan and listen to local sports radio, shortly after Maddon went to the cubs he was on the radio here with the guys and was asked " Had the Rays made you the same offer as the Cubs, would you have stayed here ?" Maddon replied " No not the same offer, if they had offered me less I would have stayed but the offer they made was insulting."
I think Maddon is a great manager, gets the most out of the players, apparently the ownership didn't think that.

The Rays are mainly concerned with saving money. I wouldn't be surprised if you looked hard at those $15/hr protests you'd see a couple Rays players holding a sign.

Way to early to say. Arrieta ran out of gas late last season. Lester is a shell of his former self. Same for Lackey. Once in the postseason bats go silent, the question is do the Cubs have enough pitching and is the offense capable of eeking out a few runs against the best pitchers in the postseason.

As a Red Sox fan the day they hired Theo Epstein as their President and complete power I said that it's not a matter of if but when the Cubs will win the WS. What Theo did for the Red Sox he is doing for the Cubs. One day he'll be in the hall of fame. Yes Lester is not the same pitcher but he's doing better this year than last year. Jason Hammel is giving them great pitching and Lackey will not dazzle you but he'll eat up innings and will give you consistent pitching. In his last start against the Nationals he went deep and struck out 11. He reminds me of the old Lackey that the Red Sox had in 2013. There's no doubt this team is built for October. If they don't win this year barring injuries then I'll start believing in the curse after all I am a Red Sox fan!

How on earth did they figure out a way to lose to the Mets last year, the Mets hardly put up a fight against KC, but managed to beat the cubbies without too much fuss. I don't get it.
