Hi:

I have a couple quarts of Mobil 1 and a few quarts of Pennzoil Platinum, both 5w20 weight. Is there a problem if I mix these two for my next oil change? I did a search on the forum and wasn't able to find a definitive answer.

Thanks,

cbrose

The rating on the bottle ensures that they are compatible, and can be mixed.
Go ahead.
Some will say that it disrupts the additive balance, but it may improve it.

I've done it during short OCI periods. Good or bad??????????

Ya,I have a lil bit of Royal Purple in my Mobil 1 15W50. Like Merkava said,DO NOT mix Wesson with Pam.

I would hold it to a 6K OCI. Conventional oils of different brands are supposedly better to mix than synthetics. I wish I saved the data that shows the reasons why. Sorry!
