Any issues with mixing 3qts of 0w20 and 3qts of 0w30 for my next oil change? It's all Amsoil SS. It's going in a 2018 Taurus 3.5 N/A.

Just curious wanting to use up what I had.

I've mixed several, like 4 or 5 different brands and viscosities in beater cars in the past, and never had a problem.

The chances of anything bad happening from you mixing those two oils is 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001%

naah Thats pretty tame for mixing.

Are you doing longer OCIs than 10K? Then I would call Amsoil and ask. 10K and under no problem.

No issues happy blending. The "Franken-gods" would be disappointed in you for not being creative enough.

Even though Amsoil states any oil can be mixed with it or with another on their website, they freak when you talk to their tech dept. I mixed 0w-30 SS and 0w-40 SS to bump the viscosity a bit since I had a couple of the 0-40 left and they want nothing to do with the mixing when you talk to them. You can do it , but they advise against with passion.

I guess I've been taking a much higher risk than I thought.

Nope! No issues...I've mixed 20s and 30s and right now the top off oil for the Liberty is a mix.

But they won't say that on their web site. So if they won't put it on paper or their web site why should I believe the tech dept? They want to sale oil and if you have to buy 6 qt's instead of 3, well thats better for their bottom line.
I've yet seen two oils when mixed that will hurt the engine and I don't care if you're mixing 0/20 with 20/50. I know guys that mix 0/20 with 0/50 and get great UOA even after 6 to 8 hours of track time plus street miles.

No harm done whatsoever and have fun doing that oil change. Being it's new on the warranty-front, I would probably stick with the OEM oil filter and that's probably a Motorcraft product and available somewhere at the store or dealer.

It all depends if it's extra virgin or extra extra virgin, I always go with the extra extra virgin. You can never have to much virgin, thats extra extra virgin olive oil.

Yes, mixing may reduce the performamce of the additive package somewhat but i have yet to see anybody have any kind of lubrication related problem from mixing.

I think you can run into issues at very very cold temperatures which will not be applicable to most! The % idk ... I suspect it may be much closer to 0% than %100.
iirc, that was the conclusion of some of the experts who are most likely tired of mixing oil threads and no longer participate
