Anti-Mixers can be so apocalyptic.

Interesting post there. Fundamentalist Christians DON'T plow passenger airliners into office buildings or blow up marathon crowds, yet YOU take a swipe at us. Why aren't you accusing Muslims, if you just HAD to bring religion into it? Please respond, Phishin.

Yes, but you don't have the lab facilities to do it, testing a new oil mix is a long complex job, you can't jump to conclusions based just on a few UOA results, otherwise you can miss long term factors like CAT fouling or sludging that might change if you mix two different add packs. You won't get any surprises from a well tested major brand engine oil in it's unmixed state.

Religion IS the root of all EVIL. The moronic "team" mentality of the insecure.
Unfortunately this blind, ill-informed team mentality is VERY pervasive on this board of pseudo-experts - Tests my patience here daily.

Mix away. Ive NEVER run ANY oil in the past decade that ran as good as some "accidental" mixes. None! Years ago Valvoline synpower worked well with a qt of M1R4t (the real synthetic, not Xom new, fake synthetic formula). Yikes! That dreaded NaXx vs Boron/Moly/Ca package. I think that test was in a 2005 Suzuki Aerio IIRC.
Mix of the Month is 90% 0w20 QSUD with 10% 10w30 Shell Rotella T5 SS 10w30. And dont lull yourself, ILSAC PCMO is way silly underadditised and will trash any hard driven engine and send it to an early grave. Ask me about my pre BITOG carnage - or dont actually

You cannot ever, ever lump Christianity in with Islam, under the general category of "religion". Christianity is the polar opposite of Islam, and NO, we do NOT blow people and things up.

Yet when a swipe comes from somewhere, almost every single time its aimed at Christians, while Muslims continually get a pass.

Who said anything about blowing things up and hi-jacking planes?

When I mentioned fundamentalist Christians, I was more talking about walking around in a constant state of fear and being obnoxious when anyone believes or acts in a way that is different from them.

Which gets back to my original post and my stated philosophy of "Live and Let Live".

Sorry for the religious reference to begin with....it's just what came to mind when I was ranting and trying to think of a group of people who remind me of some of BITOG'ers. I should have come up with a better anology.

Let's keep religion out of this thread - I don't wish to see it locked, nor am I here to discuss my religion or anyone else's.

dieselfan, irrespective of what lab facilities I have access to - currently or in the past - I may be just as surprised at the extreme time and resources dedicated to one 'major' manufacturer's testing of a motor oil as you would be for the lack of testing of another 'major' manufacturer's testing of a similar oil. Not that I have any inside knowledge into the lubricant industry - but speaking in general to the manufacturing industry, what you think you know isn't necessarily so. As I said before, when you factor cost, performance, complexity, and availability into a billion dollar industry - what you end up with is compromise. I'm not naive enough to think that ANY business is immune to that.

And I did get surprises with a major manufacturer's oil in its unmixed state. Multiple times in fact. I've also surprised myself (some good surprises and some bad surprises) when I've experimented with blends or switching top-up oils.

Agreed, this is off topic, and while I stood up to the attack on my faith, I will have no further responses.

Religion is not discussed on this web site and the members that attempt to will be given a vacation. I am not locking this thread at this time but if it continues off track it will be removed.
