I have researched thread and it seems as if their are multiple opinions on the subject, but let me pose the question anyway.

The car: '05 Acura TL, 163k, 4.5 qt 5w20

I have 3 qts of Red Line 5w20 and want to use up some of my partial bottles on the next oil change to make up the other 1.5 qts. What would be the lesser of two evils - Royal Purple 5w20 or Mobil 1 High Mileage 5w20 or some Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w20?

It's just hard for me to never use those bottles and pay $25 for 2 more qts of RL.

Use them, its not like the oil will turn into sand, it will work well for what it needs to do. I have a mix of Delo 400 and synthetic maxlife in my car right now. Having no problems with it what so ever.

I used a 50/50 of red line 5w30 and Pennzoil Platinum 5w30. You can mix them all why not? Personally id run it with the RP if you have enough though it really does not matter.

Mix everything together for now and (in the future) use the cost savings to get Mobil 1 Extended Performance, Castrol Edge, or Pennzoil Ultra / Platinum for 50% lower price than Redline.

I had heard some rumors/internet-talk about add packs working against each other. Does the ambiguity of RP or the Ester based RL not raise any concerns?
