Had a situation with my Buick where the mechanic's invoice said : " System Flushed & Filled with Low Tox AntiFreeze" ... I checked under the hood and noticed the overflow tank was empty so I bought Prestone Low Tox Antifreeze , mixed with water and filled up the overflow tank to the recommended level . For grins I unscrewed the radiator cap (which I should have done first !) and noticed the antifreeze was bright orange !!! Uh Oh , I'm now thinking the invoice was wrong - the shop refilled the radiator with Dexcool and thinking I had a new fill of Low Tox Prestone (Green color) - I filled the overflow tank with Prestone Low Tox . * Here's my question - unless there is a low Tox antifreeze which is orange color , I may have a incompatable mix of Low Tox in my over flow tank with Dexcool in my radiator (different chemical make up from one another !) ...Have I done harm to my cooling system ??

Can you drain the overflow tank and go from there?

I do not know too many people who use Low Tox for actual coolant. It does not cool as well as regular. Proper handling of used coolant negates the need for Low Tox.

I do use it for winterizing my boat at times.

I think the small amount of Low Tox won't harm anything. I think it is an OAT inhibitor coolant. I would probably drain the reservoir and refill it with Dexcool though.
