mixed Merc VI and Dex VI by mistake

I think you'll live and I don't know if Dex VI can substitute for Mercon V.
Dex III is similar to Merc V and Dex VI replaced Dex III so if the transmission feels OK I'd leave it in until the next time it needs changing.
Why was your transmission down a quart and a half?

I've seen experts (non-Ford) say nothing should be mixed with Mercon V. If it were me, I'd do a flush and refill with Mercon V. If you wait until you feel something, it may be too late.

Live and learn, just chalk it as a lesson; Agree with above, you should rather spend few bucks to change to Mercon V than big bucks if you wait and something went horribly wrong with your transmission.

Do you guys really think there will be a problem?
I'd let it go.
Maybe someone really knows if there is a horrible incompatibility .

I emailed Valvoline. I complained about how similar there Dex-VI and Merc V bottles look. I than explained to them what I did.

This is there response:

Thank you for your question. The small amount of Dexron VI you added to the transmission should not cause any harm. We do however recommend not to add anymore of the Dexron VI, as it is a lower viscosity grade and could potentially cause damage.

Yes.

The easiest way to envision Dexron VI is as a lower viscosity version of Dexron III. The friction characteristics are quite close.

But it also shears much less since it has a synthetic base, so in the long run it doesn't make much difference at all.
