My truck I drive it like 10 min a day, and it rarely reach the temperture before I shut off, or as soon it reach the temperture I shut it off.

well it have steam water stuck on oil cap and down the neck I see some milky , If I take out for a long drive on high way, it gone. I dont drive much and I dont want to get on highway every day when I dont need to. some say switch to synthetic oil will help this problem. Im thinking use mobil 1 high mile 5w30 since my truck is over 180k miles. Car never over heat or smoke, oil dipstick is look like new ( I just change it last week ).

Changing to a synthetic oil isn't going to stop that problem, driving on longer trips will. No need to get it on the highway everyday. Once every week or two take a longer drive and get the engine up to operating temps.

There IS the answer.

10 minutes is not long enough to get the sump warmed up.

Not the answer.

When you DRIVE make sure it is LONGER. You can drive 5 trips a day with all of them being 5-10 minutes and still have the issue.

Drive 30 minutes here and there and problem will be taken care of if your engine and PCV system is in good operating condition.

If you mean as in stop and go traffic and the engine is on for 30-40 minutes at a time w/o shutting it off you're GTG. Otherwise go with Bill's answer.

I never have this problem with oil cap that right on the valve cover , this 5.3L GM engine have long neck fill cap.

Spend some time READING this board (past posts) and you'll find out why this happens.

On 4.7L dodges this is also common because the oil filler tube is so far away from the engine that it gets condensation, some aftermarket company made a short replacement snout and breathable cap that fixes the problem but I don't remember the name.

MetalSlug,

Because you only drive a small distaance that's why you get the milky substance under your cap. Like the others say you need to get that engine hot and drive off that condensation.

I'm in the same situation as you cuz my Durango only gets drive on the weekends but once per week the engine gets hot and oil is circulated well to get rid of moisture. Once per month in addition it gets driven on the freeway for about an hour and a half to supplement my engine oil circulation.

If you want to use Mobil 1 you picked an excellent synthetic oil to use. However liike some others have said there are others that do just as good as M1 but for a little cheaper price so when it's time compare prices first. This is only because you have 180K miles on your ride. Not that I'm saying it's old.....you can switch over anytime dude. Currently I'm useing Kendall synthetic oil and it appears to be just as good as M1 except for the fact my local parts store stopped carryng it and I got the last 6 quarts left. Since PEP BOYs might go belly up I need to find for myself a synthetic that good for a cheaper price than what they price M1 per quart!

Good luck in your final decision. Remember drive your truck for heat and problem will be gone.

Durango

My wife drives about 3 miles a day during the week, so I see the white goo a lot, especially during the winter. We try to use her car as the weekend driver so we burnoff the condensation.

Switching from dino to Pennzoil Platinum or Ultimate did nothing for the amount of white [censored]. I've got a sample that needs to be sent to Blackstone, so we'll see what the total damage is for all those cold starts with few actual miles on the oil.

Just do what everybody else here has already mentioned. When you get the chance, let the car stretch its legs. Use it as your weekend driver when you can.
