Milk: almond or oat milk or regular?

Almond milk is dumb and marketing at it's finest. What is the first ingredient in almond milk? Water. If it says almond base it's a deception to fool people. Plus almond milk is often enriched like white bread is. It's best to get your nutrients from whole foods. Have you priced almonds? Not many go into making almond milk.
What are you expecting? Mostly almonds? If so, then you would be trying to be drink almond butter. It has to have more water for it to appear like a "Milk".

we have several to choose from in my fridge.
Oat (My brother has problems with both Gluten, and Milk Proteins)
2% Fairlife ("ultra-filtered", Lactose Free) (Mom's Lactose Intolerant)
and mine: Whole, non-homogenized, just barely Pasteurized, (basically as close to straight from the teat as they can legally sell it) from a Local Dairy. ($3/half Gallon, Delivered to my sister's farm every other week) that I mainly just use in coffee, and have to throw 1/3-1/2 out when the new stuff comes. (starts getting a bit ripe a few days out occasionally)

I like whole milk best. Almond milk is ok too but I prefer whole. If anything but whole I have to add strawberry or chocolate powder because I can’t stand the taste of anything but whole milk. For coffee i use half and half and of course sugar. One place here in town only has milk for coffee it’s ok but I definitely prefer the half and half.

I finally did away with oat milk, went back to whole milk. Glad I did with the research I did

I make my own almond milk. I get raw, organic, unpasteurized almonds from either of two growers in Calif., and I use a minimum of 1 cup of almonds per finished quart of milk. Usually, I use 1.5 cups of almonds, but sometimes I like a thinner result. Filtered tap water is also used.

After soaking the almonds overnight and rinsing them, they and the fresh water used for blending are dumped into the Vitamix and I let 'er rip. Sometimes I add a pitted Medjool date or two for sweetness, sometimes I'll add a bit of vanilla extract as well. When the blending is complete, the liquid is strained through a nut bag, put into glass bottles, and refrigerated.

If you've not tried making almond milk, give it a whirl ... much better than that insipid, store-bought stuff. Many will find the job of making almond milk tedious or too time-consuming, and that's understandable. But I like it and find it to be relaxing.

We usually get full fat 3.25% cow's milk when we buy from the store, right now we have a few goat kids so we're drinking some goat milk as well. As long as not too much falls in the bucket goat milk doesn't taste much different than cows milk. We pasteurize it as well. We just got back from camping and found that Earth's Own boxed Oat Milk was a pretty good coffee and cereal additive. Lots cheaper than boxed cows milk and tastes much better too.

Big almond was mentioned on the Bill Handle show today on KFI 640. Almonds are a crop California has no business wasting water on IMO.

Officer pulls you over and asks. "have you been drinking" answer "no sir only my home made healthy almond 'burb' milk..burp" ! l

To be labeled Pure Vanilla Extract, a gallon measure must contain 13.35% vanilla bean extractives (10-ounces of moisture-free solids), 35% alcohol, and the balance in distilled water. What is not listed in the Standard of Identity is sugar, corn syrup, caramel color or any other additives pure vanilla may contain.

Shel_B I was just poking fun at you! I really like your recipe and may try it,

Politics aside, for folks who want to avoid cow's milk or other animal products, almond milk (unsweetened) has fewer calories and less sugar than rice milk. Oat milk is typically in between: more sugar than almond, less than rice. Of the various alternatives (soy, oat, almond, rice), I find that almond works best on cereal and in coffee.

I agree that growing almonds in the desert (CA) is non-economic and wouldn't happen but for byzantine water rights and ag subsidies.
Yet along those lines, there's an even stronger argument to be made that cows are something humankind has no business wasting food, water and carbon emissions on.

I tested your theory out..... yup.... your right no matter how much I try I can't get it to go through the straw.... its puzzling, maybe I should add some "WATER" ?

Better and healthier depends on your definition. Oat and Almond milk has no protein, basically just colored water for flavors. Do you consider being on a diet with low calorie food healthy? or do you need protein to be healthy?

Personally I like the taste of soy milk more than anything, likely because I grew up with it. Estrogen be ****ed.
