Good Morning BITOGERS. THIS filter and whatever bulk oil the quick change place used were in and on a 2021 Fford Ecosport for 6,xxx miles. Put in Safety Kleen 5w30 blend and a PZ-21 filter. This filter is garbage as we can all see.

In one of the pictures I see a big glob of what looks like black oil sludge, and around the end caps black carbonized oil? If that's what that is, it makes me believe perhaps this poor filter was doing battle with more than just a apparent very extended oil change interval. I wonder if gross engine neglect was too much for this filter to combat.

That looks more like a really sloppy over glue job on the end cap to me.

"USA Brand", hencho en Mexico. Come on, seriously? Second one recently of these Grupo Gonher jobbers that's a Fail. (n)

I haven't cut open the US made Mighty "Engine Guard" jobber 6607 equivalent yet, but as it looks to be a Champ Labs ST/STP equivalent ecore, expecting no issues. The one I have was made 04/22, wonder if Mighty has since sourced all production of Mighty OFs to Mexico. If the two recent anecdotes are representative of the quality, then clearly a mistake.

As aside, the Mighty OF youtube video (2020) which is quite good, shows Mighty by Champ Labs assembly line. Seems Mighty should take The Video Here down now.

Thanks for c&p.

I’ve been seeing quite a lot of the white and black can mighty filters. I’m not impressed

Does this mean that Mighty is a First Brands product?

That’s a bizarre looking filter, that spiral spring bypass usually means Purolator, but that’s not a Puro date code. Sloppiest glue job ever, plus atrocious pleat spacing (causing tears), equals this “Hecho en Mexico” is a “Mighty” epic failure…

53', you stated that you put Safety Kleen oil back in. I have never heard of this brand of oil. Where is it sold?
BTW, thanx for the C&P.

No, I don't believe so. Best information shows Mighty AP as a Gonher Group owned parts supplier. In the past, Mighty oil filters have been made by a number of manufacturers. Most recently before these made in Mexico filters, seemed made and supplied by Champ Labs. Other than that, don't see any connection to FB.

While the topic filter uses the flat bypass spring like Purolator, afaik and can tell, no connection to "Purolator US."

I was referring to the Champ Labs connection. Maybe the First Brands acquisition forced Gonher to find another maker?

Safety Kleen is a major re-refiner of oils, coolant, fluids etc. they take our used oil and sell it back to is cheap.

I don’t believe they sell to individuals. Sell to fleets and large places I think.

So, you meant "product" as a result, not a commodity. I would imagine that cost is a consideration when deciding who will be the supplier of Mighty oil filters, like a low bidder process. First Brands now owning Champ might be a factor, but that would be speculation. Whatever the reason, the Champ Labs supplied Mighty jobber filters clearly superior to the two hencho en Mexico Mighty filters 53' has posted.

And having "USA Brand" stickers on the latter filters now, uhhh No!
