They are getting rid of circles. Out 73/70 marlton circle is no more as of this week...

Jughandles and circles are more efficient, safer ways of dealing with traffic. Was just down in the DC/NoVA area this past weekend, and all the left turns across 2-3 lanes of traffic are really unsafe.

I wish people knew how to navigate circles smartly, if they did, we could get rid of a LOT of intersections with too many stoplights, and likely prevent a lot of pollution due to idling cars...

Alas, people cant manage to learn to navigate them well, even in NJ...

Throwing rocks at ambulances, that's pretty sad and pathetic. Sounds like badly behaved children.

I must say I was shocked at how bad the driving was in San Diego. It's getting worse around here all the time as well, but not as bad as a lot of places.

the only reason I go to NJ is cheaper gas (PA gas taxes can add like .25 to .30 to a gallon!
they just tried to put a 'no left turn' ordinance in place at a gas station just across the Delaware River. PA drivers try to make a left again to go back over the bridge, causes all kinds of jams. local businesses fought it; they know most of their business comes from PA drivers (cheaper gas AND they have to pump it for you!)

Driving through north Jersey (didn't stop) I exited some complicated toll highway, the old school kind with tickets, northbound, southbound etc. I pay the four bucks and change, exact change, and make eye contact with the toll keeper just to make sure I paid the right amount.

He stares me back, and says, in a perfect Tony Soprano:

"What, dya wanna receipt?"

It all felt so cliched.

Interesting factoid, one can see the tallest point (the High Point Obelisk) in all of New Jersey from I-84 near Port Jervis.

Well. I grew up in South Jersey, then lived in Philly, and have relatives in Priceton as well as the Poconos, where I now live. Have friends in Florham Park and used to drive to LBI weekly.

So, I've seen it all as far as NJ goes. One observation I made is that NJ is like Cali, with the diversity and the umm "Metal" style (hello '80s) except the north and south are reversed.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

As for the "wooded ghetto" comment, it's right-on and those people are not from PA. East of 380, we call West Jersey.

I like NJ, now with Easy Pass on the GSP it is a lot faster to drive thru. (J/K)

As with anyplace, not for everyone. I spent a week in Edison once and just the road layout was irritating. I can think of a host of other states I would avoid living in before NJ.

Yup I know what you mean at the Olgas Diner, and before that the circle at Ponzios/Ellisburg, and that Berlin circle as well. With yet another diner.

Hey,not all of North Jersey are deutschebugs. If you ran into me I woulda helped you out. But yeah certain areas are snubby/stuck up.

Problem with the state is, its dense, you have a lot of variety of people.

Actually I shared an apartment in Times Square for a couple of years...I thought the people there were awesome...I worked the 3pm-midnight shift in upstate New York and honestly could not wait to get back to the city every night...There was bar on the corner where I used to go almost every night...The people in there were from ages 18-99...Everybody there was so nice...Besides gridlock traffic I had no complaints whatsoever living there and would go back in a heartbeat.

I am driving up to North Jersey and NYC next week...I have alot of friends there and believe it or not there are alot of awesome people in New Jersey..

What I miss most here in Miami and Fort Lauderdale [that North Jersey has] is diners...There are not many here and the ones that are here are nothing like the diners in New Jersey...The diners in New Jersey are awesome...I never had a issue with bad food or service at a New Jersey diner...I have had lots of issues with bad food and service in the Fort Lauderdale-Miami area...Big time issues!

My buddy's wife lived in Wycoff, NJ. You would have thought she was from Mahattan with a penthouse apartment.

I just go back from a long trip and spent alot of the time in North Jersey...Everybody I came in contact with was awesome...I even used a New Jersey Transit bus to get into NYC alot and the bus driver [even the passengers could not have been nicer...I almost hated to leave New Jersey.

The service in diners/restaurants in New Jersey and New York City in so much better then anywhere in South Florida...There is place called Cafe 82 [West 82ND Street and Broadway] that had the best service I have ever seen in my life...The food is awesome also and the price is reasonable.
