MicroGard Select MSL10255 PG-made center tube contamination

I’d like to see 26 pages worth of why you shouldn’t use them. It’s just machining oil I really don’t see debris worth the worry. At least they’ll be less likely to rust sitting on the shelf.

The MicroGards I've bought had clean center tubes and even clean threads ... I checked them all.

Still might be able to turn this thread into a Purolator Boss bashing thread if they
anointed ones think fast enough. Looks like anti-seize , I heard it's good for cylinder walls .
That's a guarantee. Just use the trigger words like M&H, Boss or One.

Last year, before I bought a case of MSL51522 for the Suburban and some MSL57356 for the 1025R/Polaris... (usual Honda size) I e-mailed the seller selling these, and this was the exchange. I was curious how these got on eBay. For the record, those two packs were and still are great.

Stolen freight 100%. Then it is fenced and pretty soon it’s on ebay. I had a shipment from Lowes that never arrived. I contacted customer service and they said lost . Then I asked if that means stolen and she or he I think it was a she said yes.
Consider what lost freight means, if it is lost the shipper doesn’t know where it is.

Maybe I should reach out to Orielly for some clarity?

As much as some people think "Lost Freight" is a scene out the "The Soprano's" of tractor trailer truck being heisted on the side of back road in NJ, 99% of the time it is stuff left at the ports by the seavan container load left unclaimed for various reason and not picked up. That happens more than you would think. That stuff is then auction for pennies on the dollar and then resold a few more times before it trickles down to the resellers we see online. Same thing repeats anywhere along the transport chain to include railroad and trucking yards

None of the end selling retail customers ever had this stuff on their books because it never got to their distribution warehousing to begin with. That is reconciled with the importers and their insurance.

People can contact O'Reilly's or whomever, but I doubt it will get traction once they understand it was bought outside their retail establishments to begin with.

Oil filter inspection list:
Correct model
Can not dented
Gasket
Threads
Baseplate clean
Center tube clean
Louvers open/holes punched completely
ADBV centered and not cut
Shake for looseness
Don’t get emotionally attached to a brand and get upset on BITOG when it’s called out
Check for loose glue

No manufacturers are immune to stuff happening. Not even PG.

Important to inspect every filter. I have 3 cases plus some Pentius filters and some ecogard filters. All nice and clean, glue in good shape.

Hopefully PG makes it right for you.

Spot on. Good checklist.

Honestly, doesn't seem like huge deal 'to me'. Clean the threads with a rag. Beyond that, IF still bothered take a vacuum to the outlet for a bit, then use as normal. Being candid, I do pre inspect filters, but the close examination of the threads not generally involved.

All that said, this is bitog where the suck/blow test down outlet hole has been recommended by some to check adbv function. 😀 That one a bridge too far for me.

I am not doing well trying to find oil filters. Bought a case of Premium Guard made MicroGard Select MSL10255. Center tubes are littered with this greasy metallic coating. I'd assume from stamping. You can see the discoloration/grease on the center tubes. When wiping with a finger, they have metal bits.

These are going back. I do not know what I want to buy anymore.

I've had some bad experiences on ebay buying the Honda A02 filters.

When comparing with the ones I bought at the Honda dealer,
I've noticed imperfections and small differences in the container decal printing and hole sizes.
I was convinced they were a cheap counterfeit filter, and I ended up throwing them out, as the seller had a no returns return policy.

Even when I buy from Walmart or Amazon, I avoid 3rd party sellers.

I'm not saying what you got was counterfeit, but it's just an added worry when buying anything from Ebay.
Oil filters are something you don't want to take a chance with. Those filters with that greasy metallic coating could end up causing engine damage. I would either return them or throw them out. I'd rather lose $50 on filters than $10,000 on an engine.
