Michelin LTX M/S 2

My buddys '11 Equinox came with Latitudes and man, are they smooth/quiet and good handling. A very nice tire itself and I would consider them for my wifes Lexus RX-300.

I have read an owner review, where an owner changed over from Latitudes to the LTX M/S 2's and noticed even more/better differences still! The owners comment didn't say anything bad about the Latitudes but, I think that the owner used up the Lat's and wanted to try the LTX's

This is why I recomended the LTX M/S 2's to pur friends(although I considered the Latitudes). As I stated earlier, if these LTX M/S 2's don't satisfy them, then nothing will because there's nowhere else to go from here but DOWN.

And so far, at least he is thrilled. I mean, you had to here his voice! It was as though he just met Our Lord!

and the tires still need 400-1000miles to wear in for best performance.. it will only get better

I just bought a set of these. I took delivery of a new travel trailer from a guy who transported it cross country with his 2008 Duramax diesel. I noticed he was running the same tire and I asked him about them. He puts 100-120k miles on his truck a year delivering trailers around the US and Canada.

He replaces them once a year right before winter and he said his last set had 112k miles on them when he replaced them. He said they are great tires and that based on tire life, he can't afford not to buy them.

He got 44k miles out of the OEM tires (Bridgestone Duravis).

Count me in. I just bought a set on LTX M/S for my daily driver. Unfortunately, the M/S 2 wasn't available in my size, so I was stuck with the older tire. They are replacing a set of decidely mediocre Goodyear Fortera HL. Only have 10 miles on them so far. They are round and black; that's about all I have to report at this point.

Also mentioned in this thread, my wife's Equinox is also riding on Latitudes. Nice quite tire, but I was not impressed at all with the snow traction capabilities. Not horrible, but I've driven better.

Very equivalent to some of our fleet. We run load range E tires on 3500 Savana vans loaded down to 9000 pounds plus curb weight every day!

original equipment Bridgestones run 25k miles or so and will kill you in the rain with terrible traction.

LTX MS runs 60k plus miles and works well right down to the bars. Truly a cheap tire over the long haul.

Between the comments here at BITOG, The Tire Rack customer reviews and Discount Tire Direct customer reviews, I think that there are only a few negative responces about these LTX M/S 2's.

Most of the responces/reviews are beyond anything I have read lately. A good showing. Geesh! I want to buy'em and I'm not evern quite ready for tires yet!

When God needs tires, he just goes out and buys a set of LTX M/S 2's. Because nothing else will do.

These folks haven't liked any of the tires they had prior(OE BridgeStone Duelers, then a 2nd set, & Kumho KR-21). Each of those tires had their pros/cons.

Did I make the right recomendation. If they don't like these tires, I don't think that there is anywhere to go from here.

I put the Michelin LTX MS2 on my 2007 Pilot a year and a half ago and absolutley love them. Only put about 16,000 on them but they are great as many have said here. And they were great during the blizzard of 2011. 100 times better than the OEM GY Integrity that came on it.

Everything is better than Integritys. Its like someone intentionally put effort into making the tire bad.

Yeah really! I replaced my Integ's with G/Y ACT's and they're much better in the foul weather.

Glad to see all the positive reviews on this tire because these are the ones I plan on putting on my 2k6 Nissan Frontier. The OEM BFG's are down right dangerous on the Fla. roads when it rains.
The hurt is the initial cost but I'm sure from what I've read here I'll soon forget all about it after I experience the difference.
PS Regarding the cost of these tires.......if they save you from getting into an accident the tires have already saved you $500 which most folks have for a deductible......right?

Funny I stumbled on this today - these go on my truck today at 5pm. Factory original General Ameritecs went 40k, my current Michelin LTX M/S's went 70k. I think I lost 1 mpg when I changed, but these tires are THE BOMB. They smoke everything in their class, and are easily worth it. They ride so much better and perform so well it is laughable that anyone would say they are not worth it. I had a set on a Jeep Cherokee I had years ago and they were awesome then too. The Costco guy told me they go to Michelin school, and there the Michelin engineers tell them that the tire they are most proud of/favorite etc is the LTX M/S. And now they have made it better! The M/S had no wear warranty and apparently the M/S2's do - so even better. I may not notice that big of a difference after these go on, as I have M/S's now. And I could have bought other tires for less, but I would not dream of it. If you had my experience with these tires you wouldn't either. Apparently the French do 3 things well, wine, cheese, and tires!

I've always had good luck with Michelins...as far as being French? Well...did you check the country of manufacture?

Generally, this tire is made in the US...sure, it's a French company...but...

Yes, they are made in the US, some in Canada per my quick research, but as you noted my point was it is a French company, so it was probably designed/engineered there. Who knows. That was more a crack at the French than anything.

I had this choice to make about a year and a half ago for our 07 Frontier. I chose the Latitude Tours based on Michelin's tire selector rating of 10/10 for fuel economy/comfort vs 9/9 for the M/S 2's.

As noted above, they are very quiet and smooth - don't think you can go wrong with either.

It was probably designed/engineered just down the road from me in their Greenville, SC, North American headquarters. Michelin has a huge presence down there, and a number of their tires are engineered there, especially ones destined for the North American tire market. A number of sets of tires I've owned from Michelin were manufactured in Greenville as well. One set was manufactured in Canada. Funny, but my current set of Latitudes were actually manufactured in France. 225/65R17 is the only size in the Latitude line to be made in France.

I visited Greenville,SC when I worked at 3M Co.
3M's facility is located ~ the Donaldson AFB, IIRC!
Really booming in that area when I was there...BMW, GE, 3M, Michelin, Westinghouse...
