That's about right. The MXV4 has been replaced by the Primacy. This is Michelin's luxury/grand touring model. The MXV4 was a terrific tire on some vehicles. The jury is still out on the new model.
The Defender is Michelin's high-mileage standard touring model, more aimed at some GY and B-Stone Turanza models.
The MXM4 is yet another slightly sportier grand touring model, not to be confused with either of the other two Michelins.
And none should be confused with the Michelin's Pilot line of HP and UHP tires (in Sport and Super Sport versions), in both A/S and summer only versions.
The PureContact (with EcoPlus) was Conti's luxury grand touring answer to the MXV4 (and now the Premier), but is not to be confused with its own TrueContact model, which is Conti's answer to the Defender, or its ProContact (with EcoPlus), which is its standard touring model. The PureContact is a superb tire today.
Conti's ExtremeContact DWS and DW are targeted to Michelin's Pilot A/S and summer only lines, respectively, but the latter is not to be confused with Conti's ContiSportContact 5P, which is targeted against the max-summer compound Pilot Super Sport.
Of course, we are only talking about their passenger car tires. The L/T tires are yet another menu of various choices.
It can get very confusing, for sure. Sort of like Baskin-Robbins.
