I'm sure most of have an assortment of metric wrenches, sockets, etc. How many have a metric drill bit set? Why do you need it? What do you use it for?

I have a set of metric drill bits that I purchased many years ago. I use them occasionally for more critical holes, but usually I just use the closes standard drill bit that is big enough.
I usually buy the cheap tap/drill combos for threading/thread cleaning, I assume that's a metric bit as well.

European hinges and cabinetry all in metric. Number, frac, and letter also handy. And the Xacto micro drill.
Something I have never heard of till now!
I have only ever used metric drill bits. Didn't know anything else existed.
if you do work on metric motorcycles and need to do a heli-coil thread repair you'll use a metric bit to clear the hole.
Are your tyres metric ?

Depends.
Lots of metric helicoils (and time serts) use fractional drill bits. But they're 64ths. So, it's got to be a good set, not just a cheap 32nds set.

If you work in Canada, all their holes are metric.
Iv'e bought Trojens in Canada and they not would t fit because they are Metric. Big difference.

Try useing a metric drill with those bits instead of the old imperial ones.
You mean the sets they used on the Death Star? No wonder they took it down.
I've been told that if your tires are metric you need metric lug nuts, I'm not sure why?
also I had a tire fixed and balanced in Canada and it was out of balance back in the US, I thought the guy at the tire shop was pulling my leg. I had to re balance that tire. It is metric? Now I'm really confused. Was a metric weight used maybe?

+1 and that's what most cars have today. I have a large assortment of bits but use mostly metric.

At home I only have metric drills, at work we only have metric drills. There is no use for those wierd fraction thing drills.
