Not running red lights has worked for me

Mythbusters tried and failed to find a way to do this, so I think we're stuck with driving safely

Greta thing about pickups. Drape an old tarp out the back under the tailgate. When you get stopped, just say "oops." Covers the plate in the rear nicely.

I haven't read all the whatnot about this (mythbusters or whomever) ..but most of the cams appear to be at a decent angle to the captured image. I wonder if polarized film would limit the viewable area depending on how you ran the film (horizontal or vertical).

A bright counter-flash unit surrounding the plate might work if the response is fast enough. But then they'll eventually start looking for you.

The sprays are ineffective when it comes to digital recording technology.

Yup. If they driver can't be identified, then there is no fine -- at least that's how it was some years ago. Maybe they hold now the car owner responsible if no guilty party is found. Back when I was in high school, a popular "game" was to tape over the tags, to wear pig masks, and to run a red light in town until the film in the red light camera was used up (The flash would stop firing). Then the picture of a car driven by a pigman driving would be published to the amusement of everyone in the local paper. This happened at least once or twice every year.

A friend of mine on the force said one of the more common redlight camera pictures is with the visor covering the driver's face and the double bird at the camera. If they can't see your face they can't give you a ticket.

I know anything that covers the license plate, even translucent covers with no tint is illegal because they have the potential to ruin the picture.

I agree that safe driving is the best.
