I noticed this metal wire slinky under the car frame, by the rear right wheel. Does anyone know what it could be? Looks like an antenna of some sort but not sure.
The pic isn't the clearest, but that looks like a fish wire for a bolt. Some trailer hitch/accessory kits come with wires like this that allow you to thread a bolt into the curled end and use the wire to pull the bolt through the frame into a desired position.
Not 100%, but have used similar wires to install trailer hitch bolts many times.
This was exactly my thought: if it's in a framerail it's a fish wire left over by a careless installer.
I actually hoard them despite the fact that every new hitch comes with one. I keep thinking they'll come in handy, despite the fact that I think every one I have is 1/2-13 so applications are VERY limited.
To date, they have not proven useful other than for initial installation
A grill guard came with fish wires....no manner of jocking worked.
We had to wait for 9AM Pacific Coast Time for the maker to answer the phone......only to be told they didn't offer one for that model. My pal was sold the wrong one! ...by a good shop with a good reputation. His Frontier didn't accept a Pathfinder guard.
They apologized / corrected the error / upgraded his purchase for his trouble.
I swear the stainless steel of the replacement was near double the thickness.
