No offense but if you're gone for 30 minutes in a customer's car and you're out abusing it you should be castrated. You don't EVER abuse a customer's car, especially one with almost 200k miles on it.
I doubt a mechanic would waste 30 minutes driving. I didn't condone the behavior but regardless it doesn't change the fact that your engine was near death if some WOT killed it. Any half decent car should survive the equivalent of a used car dealer test drive.
It wasn't just WOT, it was full on abuse, and yes he was gone over 30 minutes. Not to mention the fact that he was beyond angry that he locked the keys in it after the very first thing I told him was don't shut the door with the keys in it, it will lock. He looked me square in the eye and said "thanks for telling me not to leave the keys in it." I could literally smell my clutch and brakes when he got back. Now I've given that thing WOT plenty of times, and have even driven it spiritedly through twisty backroads, but never have I ever pushed that thing to the point of smelling clutch and brakes. Bottom line is while you may be a good mechanic, this guy is a total piece of [censored], and whether you believe me or not doesn't matter to me, because I watched it happen. I'm not someone who just goes out trying to get something for nothing or trying to screw someone else over.
