Odd problem. I have a leftover quart of Mercedes-Benz power steering fluid that I used on a late model (2017ish) sprinter.

I bought a golf mk4, (2000) and in the process of putting it back together i drained the power steering fluid, and need to replace it.

What do you think are the odds it would be ok to use the mb fluid?

MB has their own flavor, for power steering fluid in non ABC cars, Febi 08972 shows in my catalog, and the mk4 should be green CHF. However, BMWs are on a car by car basis between ATF and CHF as per the reservoir cap, yet the steering pumps, reservoir, etc do not differentiate when replacing them, so I was always under the impression that really anything will work in there. Dump it in.

Mercedes uses ATF or ZH-M fluid for their PS. VW wants CHF 11s/202. You could be OK, VWs still use the same ZF/Bosch steering bits as any German car.
