In November , 1966, a fellow who grew up the street from me was killed in Viet Nam. He had been less famously born on the 4th of July in 1944.

I knew his younger brother but did not really know him. I remember his family 'waked' him in their home. At the age I was at the time, I had some appreciation for their loss as I had a 10 year old cousin killed by a drunk driver a couple of months before and it was devastating. I guess my family was still grieving that loss as I'm not aware of a lot of talk of the Dorsey's loss at the time.

In any case, on this Memorial Day this post is to honor Marine Cpl. William Banfield Dorsey, killed in action in Viet Nam in 1966.

My thoughts to all the families of servicemen who had their lives taken in the defense of this country at all times.

Amen, I was there 1969 to May of 1970,,Naval Air USS Constellation CVA 64, we lost 20 men , flight deck accidents and one plane returning to ship was lost at sea, none of the bodies were ever found.

I would like to thank all that have served and sacrificed for others in our country. my thoughts and prayers go out to all of them and their families. thank you

To those of us "taking it easy" today, truly remember, contemplate, and reflect upon those who did not take the easy route.

In memory of all who gave everything for us.

Yes Thank You to all those gave their lives for our freedom.

May the day never come for those who take our freedom for granted and lose it.
Lest they realize that they should have been more thankful because of the freedoms they don't have anymore.
