Meguiars D140 Wheel Brightener

I used some this past weekend on a Civic that had some fairly dirty wheel covers. The wheel covers have not been cleaned in a very long time.

Meg Wheel Brightener was sprayed on, allowed to dwell for 30 sec, then lightly brushed down with a med Wheel Woolie. 100% of the built-up grime and dust were gone after a rinse.

This stuff is simply amazing.

That's good you didn't pass out from the fumes.

Not entirely sure, I have never used Sonax FE Wheel Cleaner.

Holy [censored]! I can't believe that! You need to try some! Best wheel cleaner I've used so far; better than my previous favorite P21S Gel Wheel Cleaner.

I use both, D140 is a must have for my shop and will clean wheels that Full Effect can't get clean. Plus it's cheap, dilutable and safe when used as directed.

Good concise answer. Thanks.

Down on the right you can get a sense that much of the barrel is perfectly clean but directly behind each of the 5 spokes is this incredibly stubborn dirt that nothing has been able to break up so far. Thoughts? I was thinking of taking the wheels off so I have better access and maybe trying a light steel wool on the barrels only (I'm out of other things to try). Even though most people don't notice it bothers me because it's the only part of the car that doesn't still look brand new.

Are these the same stains?

I don't think so? As described, the faces are perfect, this is some baked-on stuff in the barrel but only behind the spokes, I can get the barrels clean in the open areas as you can see in my pic.

A little warning -- I used wheel woolies to clean wheels with Wheel Brightener. After cleaning, I left the wheel woolies on the concrete driveway and the Wheel Brightener residue turned the concrete orange. No amount of cleaning would remove these stains. So, user beware...

I recently used D140 provided to me by The Critic (many thanks). I took each wheel off of the MDX to clean individually. The D140 didn't completely remove whatever that [censored] is behind the spokes but it took a better shot at it than anything I've used so far and that includes the much-loved Sonax Full Effect Wheel Cleaner. While it didn't solve this problem 100% the results tell me it will be excellent for nearly any other wheel cleaning jobs and not only that, it will be EXTREMELY economical when diluting from the gallon container. After this I don't really have a reason to buy Sonax again.
