A couple of years ago a guy I work with got an infection on his forehead halfway between his hairline and his brow. Doc told him it was a hair follicle and treated it. Went away for a while.
Well, it came back. He's had a minor surgery on it. Came back. He's taken some new antibiotic, 20 pills at over a hundred bucks a pop. Still there. He wears a cap most of the time and yesterday he took it off. This looks bad, has spread to almost his whole forehead. He's a young man, about thirty, very healthy and a weight lifter in great shape. Eats right.
He went to another doctor who told him it might be staph. Has not suggested a treatment option yet. While in the waiting room he sat next to a lady whose son was being treated. The son was diagnosed with staph.
She told him the doctors were at the point where they basically were trying anything with her son. He had been in a wreck a couple of years ago and cracked some teeth and had them repaired. They said the cracks could be harboring the infection. Pulled all his teeth. Now they want to remove his leg.
Needless to say my friend is scared to death. Besides being worried he needs to do something to help himself this year, since our insurance carries a high deductible, and starts over at the beginning of the year.
Any and all helpful replies appreciated.
