Off a lady friends Kia Sorrento with 4cylinder engine with probably MC blend; unknown grade for 6,000 miles. Looks like MC filters like this changed or got ugly. Interesting "wording" on where it's made LOL!

Put a KIA/HYUNDAI OEM filter on with some Maxlife full syn 5w30 from "the stash"

In that 7th picture, the metal end caps appear SUBSTANTIALLY larger in diameter than the pleated element!

Seeing as no tear noted in OP, looks ok to me at 6k miles including the louvers. As for majority wording subject broach, the OEM H/K filter it was replaced with is made entirely in S. Korea. Is that better or worse wording. Rhetorical question, no answer required.

Believe first I've seen of an FL810A posted. Seeing as it's got nitrile adbv and dome bypass, seems an MC made mostly for other than FoMoCo applications.

Something about it "doesn't look right"...

counterfeit?

No ... it's just the ways some Purolators are made.

This Purolator L14459 is the same way.

Think I cut another one of these open months ago. The Motorcraft logo and stuff looks different. I'll gladly keep using the Hyundai/KIA OEM's on friends vehicles.

Date code format and color exactly the same as every other Motorcraft posted here. Logo may be different ie., updated, since manufacture date Nov 2016 very possible. And this one uses louvers but that change has been taking place for awhile. Afaik the logo and the majority wording has no effect on function and louvers look properly formed to me, so as said looks ok to me at 6k miles. Got the job done as far I can tell based on the information provided.

Also noted in prior post, non FoMoCo MC apps have long used dome bypass and nitrile adbvs. Nothing out of the ordinary there either.

As for using Hyun/Kia OEM, the H/K posted here indicate a well made filter with a S.Korean coo. As for H/K efficiency, based on the one published data point shows them ~99%@50um. That would be in line with other Asian oem filter published data points, if unspectacular. My speculation would be the topic MC is at least equal that, and likely significantly better. All things considered and information provided, the Sorrento the MC was installed on didn't suffer any fall off in function or efficiency from the oem. That said, if the owner feels that strongly about using oem only and not the MC, in the future best to avoid using the latter and/or the shop that installed it.
