Car is 2007 Mazda3 i, at 112k miles.
Evap leak detection pump (LDP) issue started to show this time of year last year. MIL was on, and DTCs were p2405 and p2402. Before this happened, around this time of year, for a few years, the car had problem accepting gas, it would click off after a gallon or 2 was pumped. Fast forward to this year, code p2405 showed again. This time, instead of wiping the code, I left it be and made appointment with dealer for a fix. Car is still under emissions warranty. After a few days with MIL on, the DTC cleared by itself before my appointment.
I understand the LDP is the main issue, as i had cleaned and replaced the filter attached to the LDP, checked the purge solenoid which holds vacuum very well. Checked the EVAP lines and hoses. Problem is that the genius Mazda engineers tucked the LDP above the rear subframe, which has to be dropped a few inches to get to the pump. I doubt the dealer is willing to do anything without DTC present.
If you had dealt with this issue, please chime in. Thanks.
