Hello, I just bought a '99 Protege 1.6L automatic. I'm in the process of replacing all the maintenance fluids and was wondering if Dexron III would be a suitable replacement in this tranny. The owners manual mentions ATF M-III (I assume this is the Mazda fluid) or equivalent, eg Dexron II. I don't want to use synth just a good over the counter fluid that meets their requirements. I'm hoping Valvoline Maxlife Dexron III/Mercon will meet these requirements. What say the experts?
I also own a late model Accord, I sure hope Mazda is not like Honda in this regard.
