Mazda GF4A-EL Auto Transmission fill question

I have a 2001 Mazda 626-V6 with a Japanese built GF4A-EL automatic transmission.

I'd read that "some" transmissions benefit, or at least will not be hurt, by overfilling the transmission a slight amount. I'm curious if my transmission is one prone to being sensitive about fill amounts being slightly over?

Currently it is about right. Approx 1/2 way, perhaps a tad bit more than 1/2 way between the two marks on the dip-stick when the engine is warm. I'm contemplating adding 8 oz of LubeGuard Red to the fluid and wondering if i should go to the trouble of attempting to drain some of it first.

The fluid is fresh/recently flushed DexronIII/Mercon.

Go ahead and add the LG Red, you'll be fine.

Thanks.... I couldnt imagine that 8 oz would make a big difference, but i'd rather not do anything to risk this somewhat fragile designed transmission.

Having said that, i think the cars first 50,000 miles were run with the transmission about 1/2 quart over and it never leaked or seemed to hurt anything.

I've added small amounts of additives to my engine and trans like this and never had a problem. I really wonder how accurate and critical the markings on a dipstick are anyway. So often small amounts don't even show up on a dipstick. Now an inch or so over the full mark (which could translate into a LARGE overfill) is another thing!

After the last time i ahd it flushed i added 1/8 quart as i thought it was a tad low. It moved from just below the center hash mark to just above it (my dipstick has 3 marks). So i'm guessing adding 8 more ounces will make it "full" when hot. However unlike the oil pan, the transmission is a little more difficult to guage the level.
