Sorry to hear this OP, its a rough situation and life is hitting you hard.
If you're playing mom and dad (is there no mom? is she not pulling her weight to support the kids?), and have no local support, you may be better served to move to someplace where at least there is some family support. Between your health issues, busted car, and lack of current employability, you need some other support structure, especially given your kids.
Are there any programs you can leverage to support at least your kids, with hot meals, healthcare, etc. while in this predicament? Id be looking into that.
Id also personally be looking into shedding any unnecessary cost. No car loans, no expensive phone plans, etc. You need to cut your bills super quick and hard because you've not just got one issue, but many hanging over you right now.
Ill mail you a Dave Ramsey book tomorrow if you don't have it, to understand what to be doing to keep your position (i.e. roof, water, lights and food first and foremost), and get thinking about how to keep properly going in this situation. Bare bones and maybe work you don't like. Id probably go get a job at a burger joint tomorrow if I lost my job today, save for time spent going to interview for new ones. Some money coming in may be bette than none, unless you can get some public assistance for your kids that making minimum wage actually counts against...
Good luck.
