I would have to say the emission laws are what increased the reliability of the cars in general. IMO around the end of the 1960s the quality of the cars have been dropping like a rock to the point of most all brands being tin cans . And also lets not mix up improved technology with quality.

here is my view, while the MaxLife may have only ACEA A1 printer, their website still showing ACEA A3. same for Mobil 1; in Canada, all Mobil 1 5w30 i saw in Toronto area after 2005 only have A1B1 only, never seen A5B5, nor Honda approval. i just purchase a jug on the weekend and still no Honda, only have A1B1. however it clearly list on Mobil 1's Canada's web site. which one is correct? the web or label?

For the consumer, "the product label is the law," says a company rep concerning his products (paints in this case). As for the web site...for the potential rate of formulation tweaks and the communication/task breakdowns...?

Two different phone reps at Valvo. Each says no change in Maxlife. Should still meet A3. Did not have HTHS numbers on their data sheets. That would be key to know if it does or does not. Think A3 is min 3.5 HTHS. Ah well, be a while before I have to worry about it since I have 63 qts.

What is HTHS minimum for an A1 oil?
