So if the seals never get the chance to deteriorate (i.e. new engine), then it shouldn't be an issue, correct?

don't give up on the PCV valve....i finally changed our Civic's and WOW did the mileage go up! unreal....that thing was ugly....
That's how I see it. Valvoline techs will confirm it if you call.
I think he meant that the Maxlife was not done working its magic on the seals before he rinsed away with the Group III oil.
teven7492, it was some of the old formula Pennzoil SL, but for sure it would have leaked on Synpower or any other brand of Group III. Brand was not the issue. Anyway, the new Pennzoil Platinum is very different.
If you want a belt and suspenders approach to seal health, use A-Rx maintenance dose with Max-Life.
