Are they the same???
got to thinking they probably are...or shall i say you could use either in the PS system of some (most) cars...

is it a bad thing to add ARX to my PS system right now, with the MaxLife already in it?

i just flushed/refilled my PS system....with AAP fluid...that stuff smells just like transmission fluid (duh) whereas the Malife was more like OIL!!!

There will be no harm in adding the Auto-RX to the power steering system. I would suggest flushing it again after 2,000 miles if you added it to the Maxlife, in the event that it containts esters which could interfere.

i checked the factory service manual and it says 95 qts of PS fluid!

ummm, is it .95qts?

I know that sounds like a dumb question, but i actually thought it held more than that.

Be carefull with the differences between PS fluid and Mercon/Dexron II/III etc. Many cars spec ATF for PS fluid.

Notice any benefits? I'm doing a clean to my PS system, then a switch to Maxlife ATF. Haven't noticed any change after 2-300 miles of ARX cleaning.

mine specs ATF, but i recently added something that was supposedly for all makes and models...only after i bought the AAP PS fluid (which actually appeared to be relabeled transmission fluid) did i realize, the first one i bought (MaxLife PS Fluid) was like OIL, straight up OIL...so now i have half/half....
and am wondering, since it's spec'd for ATF, i could've avoided buying the MaxLife PS fluid and ran the MaxLife ATF...

I think it would be .95 quarts, typically power steering systems are 1-1.5 quarts in capacity. Since yours did spec ATF, then you certainly could have used Maxlife ATF, as long as it met the same specification. A synthetic ATF that meets your specifications would be the best thing to do.

Remember, the color could just be the dye in the fluid, it doesn't mean it's really any different in characteristics.

surfstar,
I did an Auto-RX treatment and I noticed that my power steering system was dead quiet when warm, something that had never existed before. It also helped cleaned off some gunk out of the reservoir, so now I can actually see the fluid from the outside, instead of having to put a flashlight at the top of the fill hole.

thanks...it's not just the dye...the PS fluid smells totally different...
