my friend got one and had quite a few cooks. If you're smoking long, such as a brisket, you need to get the smoke generator attachment, otherwise you'll have to add smoke every 45min or so.
I think it does a fine job, especially without the babysitting you need with fire; however it is not quite the same depth of dry smoke flavors as you get from smoke from full burning wood/coals.
The electronic display may go out or be inaccurate on the unit. but if you're into bbq/smoking at all you'd be using a bbq/oven thermometer anyway to back yourself up
