I've used it in my gas at the recommended dose to help lube the injectors. I still use it when I use some sort of one-tank fuel injector cleaner, to make sure the injectors stay nice and lubricated. But now that I've been using Lucas UCL I haven't really gone back to it on a regular basis.

MMO is used as prescribed (along with Gas Stabil)here in everything from motorcycle engines, lawn mowers engines, JD tractor. Occasionally MMO makes its presence know in the cars and p-ups but don't keep up on these vehicles as they get filled up at the gas stations and to much hassle to carry MMO along. When I think of it in the barns where vehicles are kept they certainly get a dose of MMO.
At work we occasionally start diesel with MMO when the filters have been changed. Have done the same with Cummins and Powerjoke engines.
As a layman my thoughts are MMO is a kerosene type solvent that has a nice scent to it.

I used it in high school in my old chevy as a fuel additive. Not sure if it did any thing. I still use it to lubricate my air tools.
It's a mystery.
On a friends motorcycle that we worked on for two months and couldn't get it to fire up, for no reason whatsoever, before I tossed in the towl I thought "What the Fsck" and dumped a cup of MMO in the gas tank, and dumped a few tablespoons straight into the cylinders through the plug holes. Fired up instantly.
This was last year, the bike was a 2001 Ninja 250.
I have no idea what MMO is, or why it worked. Maybe there's some kind of voodoo in it.

Let me tell you guys I use the stuff religiously since I heard it from Gary Allan, in the car. And now i started messing around with my lawn mower and holy @*@&* , it always starts with 2 rows and smooth....
The same voodoo that keeps a few tablespoons on top of the piston from hydrolocking the engine!?!?!?quote:

You surely can hydrolock a cylinder with fluid in it ..but unless it's running ..no damage occurs. You may snap a starter drive. Obviously he didn't put too much in there ..or he caught the pistos just right where one was way down on the way up and the higher one was on the way down..probably spread over the cylinder walls.
MMO when I used it in my gas, would make my engine a little bit quieter and smoother. Never noticed any increase in MPG like I have with FP60 or UCL. MMO, however, seemed to give a smoother engine than either of the other additives, but I prefer the extra MPG right now.
When I was a kid I used it in my moped- in place of the 2 cycle premix oil. I didn't know any better. The moped ran for years on MMO.
I use to run across the stuff at the small airport where I was an av gas jockey. The currrent blend of aviation fuels is very low in lead compared to the blends available when most of the aircraft were made.
The pilots would add several ounces to their wing tanks etc on fill up and this would add the lubricating qualities lost with the low lead fuel.
It is definitely detergent based or behaves like it anyways. Cleaned the plumbing beutifully.

Marvel Mystery Oil is not a really an oil but more a set of slippery detergents.
I learned about this stuff when doing some contract work at Danahar Tools, this plant made ratchets. Craftsman, NAPA, Lowes, Matco just to name a few.
When the NGR(Next Generation Ratchets) where designed and built it was soon discovered that there action off. The engineering team started experimenting with different lubricants only to discover Marvel Mystery Oil saved the design.

I have never used FP-60 before, but I have had essentially the exact same experience with the MMO and UCL. The MMO really seems to do a great job of making the car run quiter and smoother. It seems to be the best at that. But the Lucas UCL does do a good job of quiting my car down(not as good as MMO), and gives me significantly better gas mileage.

If only that troublesome apostrophe wasn't there....
I had very good luck with MMO. It cured a (almost incurable) lifter tick on my 89 Mazda B2600i.
MMO will not tell us what is in their product because then it would not be a mystery!
