I let mine go 30K and it was Nasty! I been Changing it enery year or so since.

My Dad went over 90,000 miles on the factory fill in his Super Duty's transfer case (supposed to be changed ever 30K), and I bugged him about it for the last ~2 years.

I finally broke down and changed it myself recently. What came out was the nastiest, thinnest pitch black [censored] I've ever seen in my life. I should have done a UOA on that stuff, I bet it would have been insane. Refilled it with Red Line D4.

Most European brands routinely recommend brake fluid flushes once every two years. I try to keep up that schedule on all our cars, and I rarely have a master cylinder, caliper or wheel cylinder go bad. Moisture induced corrosion is the typical killer of brake hydraulics and keeping the fluid fresh is the cure.

Up here in the Northern Midwest, we use the TC and four wheel drive quite often in the winter due to road conditions.

I too change every one to two years due to the fact both of our vehicles have the automatic four wheel drive options with electronically switched four wheel drive.

My Explorer was bought used and I changed the FF when I got it at 65,000 miles. (Came out very dark.) I put in Dexron G I had in my stash and ran it for 30,000 miles and it came out pretty clean as far as color. Changed that with Mobil 1 and ran it 30,000 miles and it came out as clean as it went in. Current fill of Mobil 1 should go 50K I would think, but it only takes 1.5 liters, and I have lots of M1 so I may change again at 30K.

I would like to know if I could run a syncromesh or MTL in place of the ATF, or if a GL4 would be needed in a TC?

I have Speciality Formulation's SAE 20 grade gear lube in my T-case instead of ATF and it's been great. It's time for a change out, and speaking of which, is MolaKule back up and running?
