Anybody here use Malwarebytes Chameleon along with their Malwarebytes Anti-Malware? I'm not so sure what this adds/does exactly. I'm currently running the full blown Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium version and might add Chameleon if it's worth doing. I assume it's kind of an "add-on" to the MWB anti-malware?

the description on the linked page pretty much answers you r question:
"Chameleon Gets Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Installed and Running

Malwarebytes Chameleon technologies gets Malwarebytes Anti-Malware installed and running when blocked by malicious programs."

you only need Chameleon if you have an infection that is blocking the install of the main program. Chameleon masks the install, so it can slip by undetected by the malware.

I Currently have the full premium version of malwarebytes running, but have the free anti-exploit running as well.

Chameleon is just for a major malware failure or a computer unprotected which has failed.

Generally Running the pro version of MWB and all its features, Ive never had any issue to where Chameleon was ever needed, But if you use search engines a lot, they are full of malware, and I do, so that's How I know how good MWB is, compared to running with out it.

While we are on the subject, there is a program called "rkill" that shuts down more than a few malware processes that keep antivirus/antimalware scanners from running.

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/

The program can be downloaded there, and it is available under different names to bypass malware that would keep it from being run.

Just another tool in the kit.

It also says (in the link I posted):

"Malwarebytes Chameleon PROTECTS AND GUARDS Malwarebytes Anti-Malware against malware's attempts to disable it."

So that statement makes it sound like Chameleon does some type of protection in real time if malware it trying to disable MWB. That could definitely be another level of protection.

Do you see it working well? I might have to download that an give it a try also.

IN MWB's you have to enable the early protection module to prevent those malwares that try to disable malware protection on start up.

This protection module is not set that way as a norm (or default), But once set, it will actually prevent a Microsoft restore procedure if you ever have to do that. In that case you have to turn early start protection off before hand, attempting to do a microsoft restore procedre.

But yes MWB is very capable of avoiding being shut off.

MalwareBytes Pro here too. Be sure to go into Advanced options and turn on Self-protection. Helps prevent viruses from shutting down or crippling malwarebytes.
