I sometimes try to use the year end to catch up on things that need to be done. This time I replaced my blades on different cutters. Here’s my Milwaukee cutter and a pack of blades. Can’t believe how dull the existing blade was. Huge improvement. What other items are you taking care of?

I prefer the Stanley 99. I go through a lot of blades in a year. I use the knife to cut net wrap on hay and for all kinds of stuff in my industrial maintenance job.

I try to grease all my gate hinges on my corral and do little stuff like that. Keeping the hinges from squeaking is easier on cattle when sorting them.

I want a knife like that but my parents won’t let me buy one if it doesn’t have the release safety on it because they are worried it will slip 🙄. So they bought me a cheap Harbor Freight .97 cent extendable blade knife not like that’s any safer though it works good. I do have some box cutters that I change the blade in when they get dull. I don’t really do anything at the end of the year except add tools I get for Christmas to my box lol.

How about one of these? You squeeze the grip and the blade comes out. Press the large black button and the blade retracts. They make a full size and a mini one.

That’s not too bad. Just trying to convince my parents to get it would be the hard part 😂 and they won’t let me buy anything this close to Christmas for myself. I had to beg them to let me buy another ratchet.

Maybe they already got you something like these. Or, no disrespect meant, maybe they’re just a little bit overprotective of you. Being a country farm kid, I had a jack knife in my pocket by the time I was 8 years old. Do you have other knives, but just not a utility knife?

Yes I feel the same my sister does too they have always been like that. No disrespect to them or anything but it does get a little annoying. I live in the country area too just a good ole country boy that sticks out like a sore thumb when I go to the city because of the way I dress lol. They do let me carry around a pocket knife which I got from Boy Scouts which is good it comes in handy a lot I’ve carried that for awhile and before that I had a pocket knife at 8 years old I took it everywhere except school.

I assume a new machete won't be under your tree this yeat? :)

Just kidding...your parents are right...utility knives probably cut more fingers/hands than any other type of knife. I can't count the number of times I sliced my hand with one. And that was just in the first 10 years! I have been a little more careful in recent times.

True lol. It seems every time I cut myself it’s with a knife cutting chicken or meat of some type 😂.
