Next time you get by a local WM, post up a pic of the $3.89 CH10855 WM sticker you claim. Be interesting to see.

As for what Nippon/U8 has to do with this perhaps you need to re-read that too. You also incorrectly claimed to this board the Nippon/U8 to be Honda OEM. You argued that too, even though you were proven wrong multiple times. Link below may refresh your memory, though I'm very uncertain of that. But, others can read for themselves if they so choose.

Wow you just all over me.

it does say Honda OEM but dont say A01 A02 but say 15400 poh 305 and another honda number that honda makes.

Now Im sure they are not Honda OEMs but they do state it on there.

now lets see you argue with that.

you will say there is not a Honda 15400 PR3 004
but look at pic

Please make sure it has the MAHLE Oil filter in it as someone said when MANN oil filters were in FRAM boxes the prices were cheaper.
So make sure to add that in your PICTURE.

Thank you.

mahle filter..10.24 here at my wm..
have pics if needed..

No If you say you have pics
Im sure of it.

No reason to not belive you and have you post pics as others.

Im truly sorry I made a mistake with price.

I saw a FRAM extra gaurd with a MAHLE oil filter in it.. and since 99% of Fram Extra Gaurds are 4$ filters I figured it was also.. I have seen other cartridge filters that were 4$ also and even large spin on Extra gaurds spins on for 4$

So If that caused anyone harm Im truly sorry. I meant no harm by it and had nothing to gain.

However the oil pictures speak for themselves.. I dunno why Wallymart had VALVOLINE Syn Power 5W30 for 5$ a QT

but they were out of them and I got them to give me 5W30 MAXX LIFE FULL SYNTHETIC for 5$ a QUART.

and the only reason I took pics was to show that there is a online price and a in-store price.

Thank you for clearly that up.. sooner or later i was going to drive to wallymart and take pics.

but I trust you pics..... no reason to post them.

Every time I buy something at Wallyworld, I have to double check the item to the right price label, even matching UPC bar code number to make sure the price is right. Too many shoppers mixing all the items up, nobody can put something back from the right spot it was originally in.

Although I never had a Fram like that, I did encounter the same thing with WIX. I was working with a VW GTI with one of the GDI engines. They had a filter with a male instead of a female end. We could only find one at NAPA, and the filter was the same, minus VW information on it.

I don't remember who actually made the filter, but usually German cars get a Mann, Mahle, Hengst, or Bosch, never from Wix.

Our KIA is "low volume" too apparently as the CH10855 at Wally's is 10 bucks! It said Mahle on it too.

Yes, and as Jay explained they do this until the volume dictates the buy/make decision favors the make side instead of buy.

Fram used to buy their PH8994 filters for my Audi from Mann and they were W930/21s with Fram's info painted on them.

Now they are making them in house and they are the normal orange cans.

Unfortunately, they went from silicone ADBVs and long life media to nitrile ADBVs and the normal 5k mile media that all other Extra Guards have.

Oh, and the sales price increased 50% at my local farm supply store.

Did the price increase when they stopped useing MANN and starting actually making their own oil filter?

Yes, that's exactly when the price increased. I kicked myself for not hoarding all the MANN sourced filters I could find as I thought that something like this would happen when they decided to bring it in house.

Oh, and boy did this thread take a hard left turn when I wasn't looking!

I was in Wally's today and the Mahle made CH10855 was still $10.24. Doesn't really matter though I've scored a bunch of Wix made Napa Golds for the KIA for 5 bucks instead so I am set.

Me too, and it's also $10.24 same as the online price I posted earlier. Have a pic too, but I'll hold that for now.

But having seen the equivalent H/K Mahle oem at a Kia dealer, I'm quite certain the Mahle in the EG CH10855 box is the H/K oem, and the dealer gets $10 and change for it too.

But also agree the Napa Gold(wix) cartridge in H/K applications are every bit the quality of oem for half price on sale. Smart move choosing the NG cartridges on sale.

Interesting, the dealer installed filter I removed when I did the first oil change on it said "Mahle" on it too, much to my surprise. (It wasn't new but almost, the KIA dealer had done a change on it).

Have used nothing but Napa Golds in it since without the slightest issue, I believe you were the one who tipped me off to the Napa Golds when I first bought it a year and a half ago.

If you are interested and ever get by the Kia dealer ask to see the oem filter for your vehicle. I think you too will be convinced they are one and the same. As seen, Mahle uses a white cellulose type material for the endcaps on the H/K filters. Only on the CH10855 and Mahle oem they use nylon at one end because there is an extended fitting/retainer nub that requires a stable hard surface to hold it. I'm sure you recognize that. The NG/Wix equivalent uses nylon endcap at both ends.

Never been to the KIA dealer except when I drove it off the lot, things been great have had no need to go back (it's ways for us) but I believe you about the filters especially since the dealer installed one I took out said Mahle on it.

If I ever experience the mysterious "Hyundai knock" it is good to know the Fram at Wally's is the same as OEM, will be easy to try one if it happens. I really think that is an older canister filter issue though.

Exactly. Though I expect some might disagree, which is normal. Just speculating but I'd think once this application becomes more popular, if it does, Fram will bring it in house as they have other early low volume sellers.

Just a side-note here regarding shopping at Walmart - you must always open the box to verify that the product inside is indeed what it's supposed to be.

Around where I live, product swapping is endemic among Walmart customers. Every time in the past 16 months I have gone to check out filters, I have found several examples of premium filter boxes with a cheaper filter inside. (it was easiest to notice with Purolator because the little hole in the box alows you to notice the wrong color can inside...)

Otherwise I am not surprised by some cross-sourcing of low volume PN's, but I am a little surprised that the Mahle branding would be left so prominent and visible,

Yupp I see that all the time at walmart with filters and I saw somthing last time i was there that was very BOLD.. I was looking at Pennzoil Plat Pure Plus.. and Noticed the that plastic seal was broken.... I took to the Manager and he opened it and the FOIL seal was pealed OFF and to top that off DIRTY OIL was in it...

I mean he didnt even put cheap oil in it... like buy 2 oils jugs and just use good oil and replace with bad and , i dunno..

This guy uses the good oil then put his dirty oil From his car in there...

Now if someone would of bought that, he could of never returned it....

Oil filter is bad enough.. but OILLLLLLLL

I showed / and told the wallymart manager each time I come i see and I said look.. they wap oil filters.. FRAM Extra Guard in a FRAM ULTRA BOX... they swap it...

They go to self check out and no one knows or even if the lady open the oil filter box up she is going to see FRAM and think thats it. Average woman see FRAM on the can and wont think anything.. but most they are doing it at self check out.

but this guy putting his USED OIL... THATS THE WORSE.. Thats bad KARMA, his engine or trans or something bad is going to happen with his car.

In the case of said Mahle oem cartridge, the only way to attempt remedy imo would be to manually cover the name on the fiber endcap. Otherwise the fiber endcap could be damaged, and even manually, no assurance some damage might not occur in the process. Being such a low volume application, imo there is little to be gained in this case by attempting to alter said Mahle fiber endcap.

As for side note, whether to check for fraud or more commonly to make sure filter is in visually good condition, always best practice to examine any filter out of the box before purchase.

On a more related note, it also always best practice to check and match the shelf sticker to verify/confirm the price of the specific filter application. With WM the application number is listed on the shelf sticker with the price. With so many filters applications, it's possible for a filter to be slotted/placed on the wrong spot. In the case of said CH10855, the price as now confirmed by three posters is $10.24. That is the same as the online price, which in the vast majority instances will be the case.
