I like the idea of the magnefine easy to install etc but with a remote filter kit the replacement filter would be cheaper and easier to replace. The remote filter wouldn't have the magnet which would be the only con. Thoughts and which one would you use?

I have the B&M kit on my 03 Escape. It uses a Ford FL-1 oil filter (actually I use a shorter filter, equilivant to a FL-300). It works great for me. I istalled it when the car was nearly new. I changed it the first time when I did a trans flush at home at 30,000 miles.
Thanks Jim... That's the kit i'm looking getting and this will be going on our 04 Escape. Most of them says they use PH8A, i'm guessing those two are the Ford equilavent. I may use a Pureone after the inital b&m filter. I'd like to find a mount that used the same oil filter as the car itself(FL-820S).. don't think that's going to happen.
Any magnet can be stuck to the remote filter. So, there is no 'con' to the kit.
Use the transdapt, B&M, Permacool,.... filter kits. This gives you the almost unlimited option of 3/4" threaded oil filters from 1/2-pint to 2-quart sizes in any brand and room for stick on highpower filter magnets.
The only pro to the Magnefine is that its an easy splice in affair. Cost is too much for the 12k/yearly changes.

I'm gathering the fittings and hard line to install a remote trans filter > sandwich port > MotorGuard bypass filter setup on my E350 motorhome.
The Magnefine's have a 25u paper filter, but I couldn't get over the small size and service interval required.

I installed a motorguard parallel across my transmission lines in my 96 Camry and in less than 5k miles cannot believe the amount of crud I found in the TP. I have read in other threads that the filter change interval on transmissions gets longer after the initial crud is gone.
