Does anyone happen to know what size Magnefine filter I would need for the rubber cooler return hose on my '06 Explorer. 3/8" or 1/2"? I'm assuming that I need to know the I.D. of the hose. Eventually I will disconnect it, or cut it, and look, but I just thought I'd ask in the mean time. Is there a way to tell the ID from the OD? Any help is much appreciated.

Funny....I was going to guess 1/2", because I was just reading about the special disconnect tool and it said it was for a half inch line. I will get a caliper on the tubing.

I have a Ford document that shows cooler flow, location of bypass, bypass settings and cooler line diameter. It goes up to '05 and lists the Explorer as having a 5R55E (5-speed auto) with 3/8" line.

Thanks. Also, I just got an email from the Magnefine folks and they also say it is 3/8". So why is the proper (per service dvd)Ford quick disconnect tool (otc 307-567) listed as being for 1/2" toc lines? The only reason I can think of is that the od of the metal line is 1/2" and the id of the rubber hose is 3/8". Nothing like getting down on the ground on my back and actually finding out, instead of doing everything blind with my computer. I will be doing that soon. Thanks for the feedback.

Greg at Magnefine told me which ones to buy and he was spot on. I didn't want to go cutting a piece of hose to find out and trying to figure it out by looking at it can be somewhat tricky, depending on lighting, location, etc.
