THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^

+100%

I just hoping I'm around to see all the lamenting on BITOG when it happens!

In some ways they are already caught up and as modern as any other place in the world.

It's a big country so sure, many parts are not caught up. But the same could be said of things in this country. Certainly, our airports and airlines are decades behind the quality you can find around the world.

Good luck with that. Pretty much everything that is assembled in the US has some China / foreign parts in it.

People who claim they try not to buy Chinese just have to look at their cell phone or flat screen.

My last phone was not from China.

I'm seeing FYG glass in new GM, Honda and Mopar now, as well as Chinese-made(but Japanese designed by Clarion or Panasonic) radios in new cars these days.

Don't buy Chinese? The don't buy Buick... -heck GM has been importing Chinese engines as early as 2005 (The LNJ 3.4L)

Really, at the end of the day, the person's country of origin making an item matters little towards the overall product. Any county is capable of producing first-rate items (or not) depending on the resources available. I prefer to support "local" industry (Michigan is not local) as much as possible but at the end of the day, it is such a small factor into the overall manufacturer process, it is hard to base the worker's country of origin into the buying decision... especially if the parent company outsources a lot of the process.

Unfortunately, the "worker" has been factored out of the equation, so it can't address design flaws, accounting-related cost cutting, laziness.

I have absolutely no problem with made in China.

However I do look for products engineered in USA or other first world places as they typically maintain extremely high QA and best engineering practices.

It's funny how people say they won't own anything Chinese or foreign, and will buy American only. Take a tour through the parts dept at your favorite dealership and look at where the parts were made to build your American car.
