macOS 26.01Tahoe

I just updated my M1 desktop to Sequoia 15.7.1

I figured while I am at it I'll update my m1 MacBook Air and it prompted me to upgrade to macOS Tahoe 26.0.1
I wasnt aware of Tahoe. Seems it recently came out. I think I'll hold off until I know more.

Anyone have an experience with it yet?

It came out with their IOS26. Been on it since launch day on my school laptop......zero issues.

I'm currently running whatever the latest OS is that Apple pushed for my M1 MBA. No issues to report.

If I'm not mistaken, you have to choose the update to macOS 26, otherwise it remains on 15.X.X for now. I might be mixing up iOS though as that is definitely the case there, you stay on iOS 18.X.X unless you manually pick iOS 26.

It requires a lot more memory than what you have. I'm waiting. I don't need to learn new systems at my age.

My Mac just tells me there is a software update available, and I click "update". Don't recall having to select anything specific. I'll check tonight after work.

No issues and I'm running it on several computers I use daily/all day. I ran the betas for the last few months too with no issues. Don't go to the Reddit sub on MacOS though, 99% of the posts are about how terrible it is and how disappointed they are. IDK, I'm typing this out on 26.01 right now and I haven't had any issues.

There's nothing 'new' to learn. For 90% of users, the only change is a "theme" difference.

It’s on my work computer. I don’t notice anything major in difference in my work routine except you can search files in spotlight (cmd-shift key) I use.

Yes, I have noticed the same thing. I actually updated my desktop to 15.7.1 this morning.
There is no option for Tahoe 26 even when I check for updates, it tells me it’s up-to-date.

On my MacBook Air I have a choice to update to 15.7.1 or macOS Tahoe 26.0.1
For now I decided on 15.7.1

Not sure what you read there or what background processes are any different. That would be a major OS change/update and this update simply isn't.

That's how they did it on iOS and iPadOS, except the options were flipped. They listed 15.X.X at the top with all of the details and at the bottom, it was a single line for "Install xxxOS 26".

I upgraded to Tahoe on my M1 MBP and have had daily issues with the Finder freezing (crashing) when I click through a Finder window viewing files using QuickLook. I have tried deleting the preference file for the Finder, but I still have issues. My job requires that I go back through old files and this has become a real nuisance: freeze, Force Quit, Reopen….

That likely means that machine doesn't support Tahoe.

We will see I don’t think that would be the case on an Apple M1 desktop computer. Yet the M1 MacBook Air. I have the option.

DUH!!!! you are right!!!!
I forgot !!! I don’t have an M1 desktop. It was the last of the Intel chips. I got confused because my wife has an M1 desktop and I have an M1 MacBook Air.
Actually, I’m kind of excited because now it’s my chance to update my Intel Mac mini to an M4. I’ve been thinking about it anyway, since I was thinking I had an M1, but I really have an (2018) Intel 3ghz 6 core "8 GB 2667 MHz DDR4"

The prices are soooo much lower than years back. They now offer a commercial type "Mac Studio" at much higher prices.
MY Intel Mac mini really is all I need. Still runs flawless only 8gb memory still amazes me but it's time for an upgrade and that is a massive one to an M4 with 16gb. Im sure I might notice some difference... I suppose. This Mac mini was my first step into Apple computing and I never looked back after Windows machines for decades.
Anyway, I might wait until Christmas or whatever. I still cant believe in the way this one performs but I must be missing out on something.
Its never let me down...
This would be the new one, much less costly then the one I bought years ago and much more powerful now.

This Mac mini

I use a mac Mini at work. It's got the M2 PRO CPU and 16gb of RAM and is plenty fast for what I use it for. I'm running Tahoe here and there's not a single hiccup. Apple's M-series CPUs are really incredible.
