Sounds like you got a lemon. When you consider the millions of happy owners, don't you think it's possible you just got a bad one?

Other things I don't remember at the moment
ALL in less then 2 years
I paid a lot and expected to get a lot... It's like paying for a BMW and getting a Smart..
Built Well..???? Is that some twisted joke?? I'm going to go to Walmart and get a Acer netbook just as a backup..

Sounds like your laptop has some power circuitry issue that fried everything.

I hope folks know here that the "hardware" (excepting the case) that is in their Mac products is identical to off the stuff shelf that can be in just about any decent PC laptop or desktop. THE SAME EXACT STUFF. Don't be fooled, what you pay for with Apple, is the name....Apple.

You pay lots and get little ...but hey the "hipsters" say Apple is ....."da bomb". Muhaahahahaa!

Not to mention that Lord Jobs was one of the most greedy people in the home computer business. Sue sue sue sue sue.

For everything else that you post that I disagree with, on this I mostly concur.

Yep.

Other than higher end screens available the underlying hardware is the same. Its also arguable that Apple has to compromise too much on proper thermal management design so that they can A) keep their laptops running as quiet as possible and B) fit the components into their slick packaging. Apple will even "cripple" the performance on demand to keep the fans running as low as possible.

Yes windows can throttle like this as well if you set thermal management to attempt passive (throttling) first over active (fans running at whatever speed needed). However, with Apple the throttling is part of the original design consideration instead of designing a better thermal management setup.

I'll give it to them that they (used to) do a superb job as far as the visual design and "feel" of their laptops. However, the same or better is now available from Asus and some other companies for the same or lesser price.

Just do a search and you'll find plenty of "HELP MY APPLE RUNS SO HOT ITS UNCOMFORTABLE ON MY LAP!!!"

Not really. If you have to support end users, I'll take 100 mac users over 25 Windows users.

Yeah, that was pretty clear by the end of the first page. After repeated assurances that the temperatures are fine, the OP insisted on complaining about the product. Oh well.

+1. I sense a troll thread in this.

And there are plenty of longtime Apple users who arent hipster lifestyle-seeking idiots who use the products because they work well and better than anything else.

I wonder if the four flawless Apple computers (age 2002 through 2010) operating right now in my home compensate for this one lemon that is being trolled about. Likely not.

Does not seem that the OP knows a lot about what they are posting on either. Crispy? What is crispy? I just took apart my MBP on Monday, well put together, Ill post pics.

Typing this at my 2010 MBA that has been flawless, I see this in istat:

Now, what exactly is there to get "crispy"??

This cable is well-adhered, and is very thin but stiff side to side, did you confuse that for crispy?

Or was it the yellow Kapton tape, that is indeed somewhat "crinkly" from new?

OP, did you even take apart your computer to know what youre talking about, or is this heresay?

If you're running any version of Mac OSX, also use smcFan control, free.

Even when running intense mathematical computations and other such stuff (handbrake for DVD ripping, etc), I cant recall a time when ive seen the CPU in my MBP go higher than 85C, and I cant say that it was ever hot.

If the battery area got to 85C, irreversible gassing and side reactions would occur within the battery which not only would prevent it from operating, but would also potentially create a fire. Havent seen that happen.
