As of today, we really know very little about this formulation - additive package, viscosity, etc.
The certifications listed on the new
Mobil 1 5w30 TSUV webpage are a bit of a puzzle.
The API SM & ILSAC GF-4 spec's are not listed, yet the Ford WSS-M2C929-A spec is.
The Ford 5w30 spec requires that all the GF-4 tests are met, with a tighter limit on some of the sequence VG wear tests.
This means that M1 5w30 TSUV meets the 800 ppm max on ZDDP/Phosphorus and the energy conserving fuel economy spec.
So, it could be that API & ILSAC are just slow in the paperwork process of granting the approvals.
Regardless, the M1 5w30 TSUV formulation will probably more resemble the regular/standard formulation than either the EP 5w30, or the previous 5W-40 TSUV, which was a Delvac style formulation.
