This is my first post here. Here is the info from my first UOA. Aside from having some gas in the oil, I'm not sure what it all means. The car is driving 75 miles each day, round trip, for work. A combination of city and highway driving.

This oil has a little gas in it -- about 1.3%. The viscosity was on the low side, but still good for Mobil 1's 0W/40. This amount of fuel is not unusual and it's not more than you could normally accumulate from city driving or idling, especially in the cold weather. We don't consider it to be a problem until it reads more than 2.0% of the sample. Wear was excellent after running the oil 4814 miles. No moisture or coolant was present. The TBN read 4.4, so the oil still has plenty of active additive remaining (our low cutoff is 1.0) Check back to monitor fuel.

Mobil 1 always shows good lead numbers. Iron is a tad high and seems to be the norm with M1. I don't know what the viscosity is. I forget the break down.

It's typical of Mobil 1 to shear down (BTW according to my little table 68.4 is the break point-so its still a 40 wt.

) If you would have left it in longer it would have started to get thicker

. Higer Iron from Mobil 1 which is typical.

Good report though.

Thanks for posting.

If this is the 1.8L turbo with the 3.7 or 4.2 quart sump, those are generally excellent numbers....

Iron wear is a bit high, only in comparison to other 1.8L turbos I've seen running Redline and/or Amsoil. For example, I had 8 ppm of Fe after 5500 miles in my 2002, Audi TT roadster. I've also seen several analyses from Tyrolkid w/ Redline in highly modded 1.8L turbos that show exceptonally low iron wear.

Iron wear is still very low compared to any GM engine, so I'm really just picking nits here. However,f you want to drop the iron down even more, find and use the world class, Mobil Delvac 1, 5w-40. I consider it to be the best competitive oil from a major oil company ....

Looks like another excellent M1 report. Still wonder why iron reads higher on most of these M1 reports. Maybe some expert will chime in and tell us but still an excellent report.
