old MBenz with auxiliary bypass oil filter
(modified with modern spin-on filter inside)
- There are 3 fittings on it
1 ) inlet which comes from engine
2 ) return to engine which has an approx 1.2mm restrictor hole & connects to the centre of the spin-on
3 ) outlet which leads to a T for oil pressure gauge & an oil supply line for a cable driven (from trans) oil pump for the central chassis lubrication setup
There is a strip of metal across the back of fitting (3 ) ,not sure if there was originally a ball or...
Any opinions ?
Also slightly concerned that if the central lube pump & pipework to the various points lets oil
flow too easily ,will get a drop in engine oil pressure.
Some cars just had the oil pressure gauge from fitting ( 3 ) which wouldn't be a problem.
Thanks in advance for advice / opinions
