Lump sum buyout or?

Pensions aren't a sure thing anymore. Alot of pension funds are on shaky ground. I would seriously consider the lump sum payment for myself if I had to decide..

Of course it could all go bad, but playing the odds and the long-term average returns from the market, even a conservative fund should be able to beat 5%, if they can, you get the 500 a month plus you can pass the 100K along to someone when you die

Take the money and run. Even if the pension is adequately funded (likely not) I would all but guarantee that there is some skinny jean wearing little turd in some office trying to figure out how to screw you out of that money so he can get a big reward from your previous employer.

Take that 100k and buy up all the clearance oil you can find

This thread is many years old. I’m certain the OP has made their decision, and continuing to give advice isn’t really helping them.
