Just bought a '21 Mazda 6 and it was originally sold with "Mazda locking lug nuts". I'm not a fan after having them on multiple other cars and I always end up removing them. On our other cars, I've never had any issue finding suitable replacements, but these are very short lug nuts - 1" overall length. They're M12 x 1.50 and 'cone' seat, but it's the 1" length that I can't find. Everything seems to be 1.25 - 1.50" long. When I look up the lug nut at Mazda based on the VIN, they show these: https://mazda.oempartsonline.com/oem-parts/mazda-lug-nuts-black-17mm-hex-c9n1v9770 (same result directly from Mazda's parts page too). These are more like "decorative" upgrade lug nuts. Mine are 21mm hex and chrome. I haven't called any dealers to see if they show a plain, stock lug nut yet....

No luck on Amazon or auto parts stores, including Rockauto. Closest length-wise might be a DORMAN 611141 (26mm long), but the 'head' is a different shape. I can live with this difference though.... Most in the length I need are open-end versions.

Ideas ?

You could always call the local salvage yard and see if they have a wrecked Mazda. Maybe they'd let you pay a "reasonable" price for 4 lug nuts. It seems those lug nuts are on every Mazda 3, 6, CX5, CX50, and CX30.
It wouldn't cost anything but a little time and a phone call if it doesn't pan out.

On every car I have owned, new and used, the dealer has removed wheel the locks and put standard lug nuts/bolts on, free of charge.

They usually have a ton of brand new lug nuts/bolts around from installing wheel locks during PPIs.

That stubby lug nut looks like what Toyota used on 90s and 2000s Camrys with steel wheels.

Agree you should have a little box with the lug key and four spare lug nuts.

I bought it used, from a Honda dealer.
Is there a case with any of the jack, etc. My truck came with locking nuts and the extra 4 were in the case with the jack handle? Check around.

In the glove box is the plastic clamshell that had the (4) locking lug nuts + key. It only has the key in it though.... 🤨 So they swapped them, then threw them in a bucket, tool box drawer, etc.

B002-37-160B is the number you want. Mazda used these forever. They are a solid one piece lugnut. I try to keep 4 in stock at all times for people that ditch the locking lugnuts.
I missed this comment and in the meantime, I found that same p/n ! 😉 On Mazda parts sites, where they list "Engine", "HVAC", "Emissions" and so on, I was scrolling too far, into the "Accessories" section, so those black, 17mm lug nuts were "upgrade" (for looks) lug nuts, not OEM ones. I started digging through the other categories and under Suspension, they have a sub-category for Wheels and I found them there.

As mentioned above, I found 'em and it says they've been used since 1998 on different models ! I didn't know they were Mazda's standard lug nut though.

Mazda's catalog organizing is.... interesting. But for people new to parts it is really easy. You don't have to memorize base numbers like with Ford.

That p/n for this lug nut doesn't follow their standard scheme so it looks like maybe they converted or switched over to the current system, but kept some legacy parts with their old p/n.
