I've been putting Lucas in my 1983 Yamaha Virago 750, I'll have results on any milage improvement soon. Is there any benefit for this vehicle as it isn't fuel injected? It seems UCL is for injected engines, opinions?
I filled the bike yesterday. 2 gallons got me 77 miles with Lucas in gas. Too bad that BEFORE I used Lucas I got 40 mpg. No more Lucas in the bike, I'd better watch the cars now...
Wait, you're calling Lucas junk because you went from 38.5 MPG to 40 MPG in one tank?
Maybe its doing some cleaning, but no matter what is happening a variation of 3 miles per tank is so little to go by that you cannot rule out other factors.
First off, I never used the term junk, though it may apply. The fact's are that I went from 40 to 38.5, not visa versa. That represents a DECREASE in milage. And and on a 3.5 gallon tank, thats 5.25 miles LESS I can go using Lucas. I used same gas quality and the exact same driving style and distances as before, no other factors. Maybe JUNK was a good term.
Yep, that Lucas cleaned out all the gum varnish in your carb causing the engine to run rich. Tune it!
Sorry, but a 1 tank judgement call is meaningless. Run an 3/4 ounce for 10-15 tanks and run without it for the same amount documenting the exact distance driven and fuel used at all fill ups.
